Bespoke Eco Landscape Design

Landscape Design for Sydney Eastern Suburbs & Byron Shire

Custom eco-gardens, native planting, drip irrigation, and lawn installation

How Our Landscape Design Process Works

Every garden is different. Every design should be too. JonesBee creates bespoke eco landscapes for homes across Sydney's Eastern Suburbs and Byron Shire.

Before we draw anything or recommend a single plant, we spend time in your garden: reading the light, testing the soil, understanding how the space is used, and listening to what you actually want from it. Every design is built around native plants, pollinator habitats, and the specific conditions of your site. A garden designed to genuinely thrive.

Bespoke landscaping & design

We see your garden as a miniature ecosystem, connected to everything around it.

Our landscape design projects are a collaboration: we take your vision, your site, and the local ecology seriously, and we create something tailored to all three.

Every design accounts for soil quality, light, drainage, existing plants, and how you actually live in the space. The result is a garden that looks the part and functions as a living system.

  • Seasonal planting strategy
  • Soil testing and revitalisation
  • Effective weed management (chemical-free)
  • Shrub and tree integration

Planting & Supply

Choosing the right plant for the right place takes more than a good eye. We measure light levels, test soil quality and drainage, and then select species that will actually thrive in that spot.

We encourage natives wherever conditions suit them. They're adapted to Australia's soils and rainfall, they feed local bees and birds, and they hold up far better over time than most exotics.

We source through people we trust, including our friends down at the Randwick Community Nursery, they have an abundance of knowledge and consistently beautiful stock, and it's always a pleasure to visit.

Lawn Care & Installations

We take care of your lawn, offering comprehensive maintenance and installation services, tailored to optimise your lawn's health and appearance through expert assessment of environmental conditions.

For established lawns: We offer an adaptable recurring program: monitoring your watering schedule, aerating, controlling weeds without chemicals, fertilising, and de-thatching through the seasons.

For new lawn installations: We assess the existing soil, cultivar, light, and drainage before recommending anything. Overseeding for thinning areas, or full turf roll installation, the right grass type for a shaded Paddington courtyard is not the same as what thrives on a north-facing Byron block.

Drip Irrigation Systems

We harmonise the client's desired aesthetic with functionality in our carefully thought out plant selection process encouraging natives where possible.

Our first choice for irrigation is always an automated drip system. It's the most water-economical method: a slow, targeted soak delivered directly around each plant's drip line, rather than surface spraying that evaporates before it does much good.

Ideally running from a greywater collection tank, which keeps running costs low and takes the pressure off mains water entirely.

What makes a JonesBee landscape different

When we design a garden, we're thinking about more than how it looks. Each space is a piece of the bigger picture: the soil, the pollinators, the birds, the neighbours' gardens, all connected. A well-designed landscape doesn't just serve the people who live in it. It plays its part in something larger.

That's the idea behind everything we plant.

Solar-powered tools

Battery-powered equipment on every job. No 2-stroke emissions, dramatically less noise. Better for the garden and for your neighbours.

JonesBee ICONS-2-2

Chemical-free from day one

No herbicides in the ground before we plant, no pesticides after. What goes into the soil stays in the ecosystem.

JonesBee ICONS-2-6

Low footprint, high impact

We offset vehicle emissions and design gardens that actively improve local biodiversity. Small patch, big ripple.

JonesBee ICONS-2-5

Native-first planting

We prioritise natives because they belong here. They support local bees and birds, need less water once established, and outlast exotic alternatives in Sydney's conditions.

JonesBee ICONS-2-4

Designed around your site

Every landscape starts with a soil test and a light read. We design for what's actually there, not what looks good on paper.

JonesBee ICONS-2-5

Built to last

A well-designed garden shouldn't need constant intervention. We build in drip irrigation, soil health, and species selection so the garden sustains itself over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a landscape design project take?

It depends on the scope. A planting redesign for a typical Eastern Suburbs courtyard or Byron Shire garden might take two to three weeks from consultation to installation. A larger garden with lawn, irrigation, and structural planting might take six to eight weeks. We'll give you a realistic timeline at the consultation stage.

Do you only use native plants?

Native plants are prioritised because they're better adapted to local conditions and support local biodiversity. But they're not a strict rule. We'll use non-invasive exotic species where they genuinely suit the space and the client's aesthetic. What we won't do is use plants that compete with or crowd out native species.

Can you design a garden that requires minimal maintenance?

Yes, and this is something we specifically design for. The right plant in the right place, with good soil preparation and an efficient irrigation system, creates a garden that largely looks after itself. We can advise on species selection that minimises pruning, watering, and intervention.

What is the difference between landscape design and garden maintenance?

Landscape design creates or transforms the garden: planting plans, structural elements, irrigation, and installation. Garden maintenance is the ongoing care of an established garden. Many of our clients engage us for both: we design the garden, then maintain it on a regular schedule.
